About this vacancy

We’re looking for a Communications and Marketing Executive to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role will provide vital day-to-day support to the Communications and Marketing team, helping us keep our digital channels, campaigns, and inbox running smoothly while the team focuses on delivering exciting projects such as a brand rollout and intranet refresh.

You’ll manage website updates, publish engaging digital content, run email marketing campaigns, and help triage the shared communications inbox. You’ll also play a part in reviewing and proofreading content, supporting projects, and ensuring our communications are consistent, accessible, and engaging for the public and our stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who can bring creativity, organisation, and strong digital skills to the team. You will:

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with a range of audiences, both in writing and verbally.
  • Have excellent attention to detail, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and brand-compliant.
  • Be highly organised, able to manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Understand branding principles, digital accessibility, GDPR, and the importance of inclusive communication.
  • Use data and insight (e.g., Google Analytics) to inform decisions and improve performance.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Show professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to our organisational values.

Experience and qualifications

Qualifications & Training

  • A Level 3 qualification or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations), or equivalent experience in a communications or digital content role.
  • Full UK valid driving licence.

Experience

  • Experience in a communications, digital content, or marketing role.
  • Demonstrable experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress) to update and manage website content.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) to design and deliver campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience with digital tools, including:
    • Mailchimp (or similar) for email marketing management
    • WordPress (or similar) for website management
    • Google Analytics for analysing digital performance
  • Experience managing a shared inbox and triaging communications effectively.
  • Proven track record in writing and editing high-quality content for websites, email, blogs, and digital publications.
  • Experience proofreading content created by others to ensure accuracy, clarity, tone, and alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Experience in brand guardianship, ensuring communications and materials follow brand guidelines and making confident decisions on tone and representation in external communications.

Desirable – Qualifications & Training

  • Additional certifications in digital marketing or communications (e.g., CIM Level 4, Google Digital Garage, HubSpot Academy).
  • Training or awareness in accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) or GDPR compliance.

Desirable – Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale communication projects such as brand rollouts or intranet refreshes.
  • Previous work in a public sector, emergency services, or regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS or experience working with low-code/no-code digital tools.
  • Experience using graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) to create digital assets.
  • Salary £32,884 – £33,356 a year
  • 6-month fixed-term contract
  • Full time – 37 hours per week
  • Hybrid working available after an initial embedment period (60% office-based at our HQ in Aylesbury)
