About this vacancy

The Personal Assistant (PA) plays a vital role in supporting the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and Directors by ensuring smooth and efficient administrative operations across the Service.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing confidential administrative and organisational support to Directors and their teams
  • Managing diaries, emails, and correspondence, including sensitive and confidential information
  • Coordinating internal governance meetings and delivery group processes
  • Organising seminars, meetings, and travel arrangements, ensuring all materials are prepared
  • Undertaking research and managing ad hoc projects as required
  • Liaising with external stakeholders, including government officials and partner agencies
  • Supporting communication across the directorate, and ensuring timely follow-up on SLT instructions
  • Providing cover for other PA roles and supporting the Executive Assistant to the CFO/DCFO/SLT

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two GCSEs (or equivalent), including Grade 4 (C) in Maths and English

Experience:

  • Proven experience in office administration
  • Experience in personal assistant duties

Skills:

  • Proficient in IT applications across a wide range of systems
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to take minutes and format them appropriately
  • Basic numerical skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Good research and analytical skills

Desirable Criteria

Qualifications:

  • NVQ in Business Administration (or equivalent experience)

Experience:

  • Significant experience of being a Personal Assistant at Director Level

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Fire Service
Salary:£32,884- £33,356 Per Annum
