MK Can World Record Achievement

MK Can World Record Achievement

Read more to find out about this remarkable achievement!

An important part of our Firefighter’s role is community engagement. Towards the end of last year, our Firefighters at West Ashland Fire Station teamed up with their local community with the hope of achieving a World Record.

This wasn’t just any World Record attempt

MK Can, a local charity, had set a goal of getting as many cans of food donated to their charity so they could make the longest line of food cans in the world.  This important aim was put in place due to the cost of living crisis, which significantly impacted the charity’s operations.

Red Watch took the initiative, using social media channels and visiting local supermarkets to rally support. Their efforts resulted in a donation of over 800 cans! This supported MK Can to fill their shelves of food for their local community.

The attempt…

On October 16 2023, small businesses, local organisations, and members of the community joined hands to break the World Record by contributing 102,447 cans, measuring 7.64 kilometers. This remarkable achievement was only possible by working together and supporting a great cause.

This month, our Firefighters received their certificate in recognition of all their hard work and support towards the final outcome. Well done to all involved.
