As a progressive organization, we have utilised apprenticeships across the service with both new starts and upskills in various departments, including Firefighters, ICT, Marketing, and more. These talented individuals have infused our team with fresh perspectives, diverse ideas, dedication, and innovation.
Last year we were proud to win the award for Outstanding Apprenticeship Project and take home runners up for Non-Operational Apprentice at the NFCC (National Fire Chiefs Council)Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony.
This year we had 5 members of our staff shortlisted for awards.
Sam Jackson – Firefighter
He was nominated for Operational Apprentice of the Year. He was recognised as someone who continually strives to improve in everything he undertakes. Throughout his apprenticeship, he applied himself and embraced the full process and even took on extra responsibility like becoming a TL (turntable ladder) operator which is something that isn’t usually asked of an apprentice.
Xavier Prince – ICT Apprentice
Xavier was nominated for Non-operational Apprentice of the Year, for his standout qualities and his ability to adapt and grow. He’s become a trusted and reliable individual, able to take on tasks with precision and care, inspiring confidence in those around him.
Izzy Carroll – Finance Apprentice
Izzy was nominated for Non-operational Apprentice of the Year for her ambition to learn and strong communication skills with colleagues across the Service.
Steven Cadwalleder – Firefighter
Steven was nominated for Operational Apprentice of the Year for his determination and commitment to not only his role but his team and wider organisation. During his time at Beaconsfield he continues to volunteer himself for skill sets and courses.
Shaun Carr – Crew Commander
Shaun was nominated for the National Inclusion Champion Award AND the excellence in Apprenticeship Support. Shaun has been an advocate for fitness within the Service and has used his knowledge and expertise in recent positive action campaigns for recruitment of Wholetime Firefighters.
The awards were open to all Fire Services across the country. We proudly put forward some of our awesome apprentices to recognise their outstanding achievements and contributions to our Service.
Rachel Neil, Employee Development Officer added
“These nominations are a testament to the dedication, high standards and effort our apprentices, line managers and everyone involved in apprenticeships puts into their work.
Everyone involved in our apprenticeships are valued and it’s great to see our staff recognised at such a prestigious national event for the second year running.
I am extremely proud of all the nominees and look forward to seeing the results.”
We are really excited to share that this year Izzy took home runner up for Non-Operational Apprentice and Shaun brought home runner up for the Inclusion Champion Award. It is amazing to be recognised so highly within the Fire Sector on this national stage.
