Gold Award Holders – Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

At BFRS, we are honored to be recognised as Gold Award holders under the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This prestigious award reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community and upholding the values of the Armed Forces Covenant.

What the Armed Forces Covenant Means to Us

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.

We are proud to stand by this promise and are committed to actively work to ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community faces disadvantage in accessing our services or employment opportunities.

Our Gold-Level Commitment

As a Gold Award employer, we go above and beyond in our support for the Armed Forces community. Our commitments include:

  • Offering guaranteed interviews to veterans, recognising the unique skills and leadership they bring.
  • Supporting Reservists within our workforce, including offering additional paid leave for training and deployment.
  • Championing the Covenant across our networks and encouraging other organisations to sign and support it.
  • Hosting Veteran Walk-Ins, we are proud to host walk-in sessions at West Ashland Fire Station and Marlow Fire Station to offer support, guidance and advice to those who may need it.

Creating a Supportive and Inclusive Workplace

We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger. Veterans, Reservists, and military families enrich our service with their resilience, discipline, and commitment to public duty. We are proud to provide a workplace where they are welcomed, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Working Together for a Stronger Community

Our support for the Armed Forces Covenant is not just a policy, it’s a core part of who we are. We are committed to continuing this work, building stronger partnerships, and ensuring that those who serve our country are never left behind.
