Proud to welcome Cohort 13 to the BFRS family

Celebrating our newest recruits completing their residential training at the Fire Service College.

We’ve really enjoyed watching our newest recruits develop and grow throughout many challenging, yet incredibly rewarding weeks at The Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh.

Their course began on the 22 September 2025, with an induction into the service, familiarising themselves with fire kit and learning all about what it takes to join our team.

This quickly followed an intense 8-week course at the Fire Service college, accompanied by further learning on fire stations to prepare them for real life incidents.

After building confidence in their initial skills, our recruits were ready to showcase and practice them in scenario-based training. From tackling road traffic collision drills to entering fire conditions wearing breathing apparatus sets, they completed it all. This demanding yet rewarding journey has provided our recruits with the perfect foundation for their new careers as professional firefighters.

Pass Out Parade

On the 14 January 2025, we followed Fire Service tradition and held our Pass Out Parade Ceremony at the Blue Light Hub, Milton Keynes.

We opened our doors to friends and family, giving them a chance to witness their loved ones in action. The day was filled with excitement as our team demonstrated their expertise in a ‘persons reported’ fire drill.

From handling heights with ease to smashing their breathing apparatus demonstration, our firefighters showcased the incredible skills they’ve gained through rigorous training. Family and friends cheered and applauded as they watched their loved ones put their hard work and training into practice.

It was a day of celebration and recognition, highlighting the dedication our firefighters pour into their roles. We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements and the unwavering commitment they show every day.

The successful recruits were then awarded with their certificates for completing their initial Firefighter training. Our Chief Fire Officer, Louise Harrison, welcomed the recruits and shared her own words of wisdom

“This is not just a job. It’s a lifelong commitment, a work family, and a way of life. It’s your responsibility to be the best firefighter you can be: stay fit, keep learning, and continue developing.

You work as a team, but each of you brings something unique; a skill, an attitude, a passion, that makes you stand out. Never lose sight of that and never let anyone take it for granted. You’ve earned your place here through hard work and determination. “

This is not the end of their journey, just the start and we will be with them every step of the way!

Congratulations & welcome to:
