Tumble dryer fire

Tumble dryer fire

Past

One appliance and crew from High Wycombe, one from Windsor, Tinker Lane and one from Maidenhead attended, along with two officers.

Smoke was issuing from a three-storey house when they arrived.

The firefighters used:

  • Two sets of breathing apparatus
  • One hose reel
  • A thermal imaging camera
  • A positive pressure ventilation fan

Three women, three men and two children were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The gas and water supplies were isolated. The firefighters requested the attendance of the electricity provider as the fuseboard for the house was destroyed by the fire.

The fire was believed to have started by a tumble dryer located in the stairwell.

The firefighters removed the washing machine and tumble dryer from the house. They carried out a Home Fire Safety Visit at the house, and two neighbouring properties.

Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service also attended.
