One appliance and crew from Broughton and two from West Ashland attended, along with an officer.
A smell of burning was present within the stairwell of a four-storey block of flats when they arrived, and an alarm was sounding.
The firefighters forced entry to a second-floor flat and located a small fire believed to have been caused by a tea towel smouldering on a hob.
The firefighters used:
- Two sets of breathing apparatus
- One hose reel jet
- One safety jet
- One covering jet
