Two crews from West Ashland, one from Winslow, and one from Broughton were in attendance, along with two officers, at the height of the fire.

Fire was affecting the first floor of a two-storey house when they arrived.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one woman from the fire, who was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

One man was out of the house when they arrived. He was suffering the effects of breathing in smoke and minor burns and was also treated by the ambulance service.

The firefighters used:

  • Six sets of breathing apparatus
  • A turntable ladder
  • One hose reel jet
  • One main jet

The first floor of the house was 100 per cent damaged by fire. The roof of the house was around 70 per cent damaged by fire.

Thames Valley Police also attended. Firefighters remained on the scene over night and into the following afternoon.
