Past

Seven appliances and crews, and five officers, were in attendance at the height of the fire.

The crews were from:

  • West Ashland
  • Broughton
  • Newport Pagnell
  • Olney
  • Aylesbury

A fire had started on the ground floor of a two-storey residential building.

The firefighters used:

  • Six sets of breathing apparatus
  • Two main jets
  • Two hose reel jets
  • A turntable ladder
  • A short extension ladder
  • Small tools

Firefighters rescued four women from the building and passed them into the care of South Central Ambulance Service. Three were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

People were advised to keep doors and windows closed while the incident generated smoke, and to avoid the area while the firefighters worked at the scene.

The electricity supply to the building was isolated, and cordons established to enable fire investigation to take place.

Thames Valley Police also attended.

The incident response began to be scaled back shortly before 12noon. All crews had left the scene by 2.45pm, with reinspections scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening to take temperatures readings and to check for hotspots.
