Introducing Our New Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Simon Tuffley

After 26 years of service, we welcome Simon Tuffley as the next leader to guide our team.

After 34 years of outstanding service, including nearly a decade as Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO), Mick Osborne will be stepping down this November. We thank Mick for his dedication, leadership, commitment, and invaluable contribution to our service.

Following a rigorous recruitment process, we are pleased to announce that Simon Tuffley has been appointed as our new Deputy Chief Fire Officer, effective from 1st November 2024. This decision was ratified by the Fire Authority during their meeting on 9 October 2024.

Simon brings a wealth of experience from over 26 years in the fire service, excelling in delivering excellent public services, team development and transformational improvement. In his new role, Simon will be responsible for overseeing service delivery, strategic planning, and change, ensuring we continue to deliver the highest level of safety and service to our community. His leadership aligns with our values, and we are confident in his ability to help shape the future of our service.

Simon Rouse, Chair of the Fire Authority said.
