Two Firefighters, Three Peaks, Full Fire Kit: An Extraordinary Challenge for a Great Cause

Two Firefighters, Three Peaks, Full Fire Kit: An Extraordinary Challenge for a Great Cause

Two of our firefighters, Leyla and Rachael, are preparing to take on a challenge that pushes the limits of endurance, resilience, and sheer determination. They will be attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, all within 24 hours. But they’re not stopping there. They’ll be completing it wearing full fire kit, adding significant weight, heat, and difficulty to an already demanding mission.

For most people, the Three Peaks is a bucket‑list achievement in standard hiking gear. Taking it on in fire kit is something else entirely. It’s a test of physical strength, mental toughness, and commitment, the same qualities they bring to the job every day.

Why They’re Doing It

Between busy shifts, family life, and training sessions squeezed in whenever possible, Leyla and Rachael have been preparing for months. Their motivation goes far beyond personal achievement. They’re doing this to raise vital funds and awareness for The Fire Fighters Charity, an organisation that supports firefighters, their families, and fire service staff through injury, illness, and mental health challenges.

The charity plays a crucial role in helping those who dedicate their lives to protecting others. By taking on this challenge, they hope to give something bac, and shine a light on the support available to those who need it.

The Challenge Ahead

Climbing the Three Peaks in 24 hours is already a race against the clock. Add the weight and heat of fire kit, and the difficulty increases dramatically. Every step becomes heavier, and more demanding.

Their journey will involve:

  • 23 miles of hiking
  • Over 3,000 metres of total ascent
  • Rough terrain, unpredictable weather, and tight time windows
  • Carrying the weight of full fire kit throughout

How You Can Support Them

Your support can make a real difference. Whether it’s a donation, a message of encouragement, or simply sharing their fundraising page, every action helps them stay motivated through the toughest parts of the challenge.
