One appliance and crew from West Ashland attended.
An electric toaster, on the ground floor of a two-storey house, had been removed from the building before they arrived.
The firefighters used buckets of water to cool the toaster down. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to help clear smoke from inside the house.
